Outer Banks vacations in Spring and Fall are especially popular with visitors who want fewer crowds and pleasant weather. The water temperatures in the spring are still cool, but the water stays warm after summer well into the fall.

Summer Weather 

Summer at the beach brings long, sunny days perfect for swimming, surfing, and tanning. The temperatures on the Outer Banks can occasionally get into the triple digits, but the Outer Banks is cooled by sea breezes so the average is in the mid to upper 80s. Humidity can be high, especially if there is a storm approaching, but you should expect moderate humidity. Afternoon thunderstorms can be expected to pop up in the heat of July and August, but they normally pass quickly.
