Outer Banks Events Calendar

The Town of Nags Head is proud to celebrate its 65th Anniversary and invites residents and visitors to stop by Town Hall throughout the month to view a special collection of exhibits and artwork highlighting our community's rich history and bright future.

The displays feature historical photographs, memorabilia, and creative works that reflect the people, places, and stories that have shaped Nags Head over the past 65 years.

Whether you have called Nags Head home for decades or are simply visiting the area, we welcome you to explore the exhibits and join us in celebrating this milestone.

The Pea Island Preservation Society, Inc. is excited to announce its sixth annual outdoor Juneteenth celebration, The Sounds of Freedom, to be held at the Pea Island Cookhouse Museum on June 19 at 5:30pm. This FREE event, featuring professional opera singer, Tshombe Selby, a beloved Roanoke Island native, continues to be a summertime favorite on the Outer Banks. Please plan to join us this year as Tshombe treats us to songs celebrating the spirit of freedom along with his special guests, K-Soul from Hampton, VA which will culminate into a true Soul Fest! Also performing will be The Mack Jazz Band, a talented group of Dare County High Schoolers who will dazzle us with modern and classic Jazz tunes that will have you on your feet and singing along!

The outdoor concert will start at 5:30pm and is expected to last a couple of hours. Limited seating will be offered beginning at 5:15 pm. Due to the expected large crowd, people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or a blanket to sit on.

The Cookhouse Museum is located at 622 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in Manteo, NC, away from the downtown Manteo waterfront. Those planning to drive to the event are encouraged to park at Haven Creek Baptist Church, located at 611 Sir Walter Raleigh Street, just down the block.

The 2026 Season of The Lost Colony runs June 4th through August 22nd. An experience not to be missed! The Lost Colony offers a refreshed production of Paul Green's original symphonic drama. Set on the soundfront on Roanoke Island, enjoy this 89 year-old musical under the stars. Become immersed in the story of the discovery of a new world with newly enhanced musical and theatrical direction and dynamically stunning choreography. Witness the pageantry of Queen Elizabeth I and her court and celebrate the birth of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America all while preserving the historical importance of America's oldest mystery. An Outer Banks experience not to be missed!

It’s Summer time on the Outer Banks. Get your morning started right by adding fun and fitness to your vacation. Enjoy a flat fast paced run/walk through beautiful Kinnakeet Shores in Avon, NC part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Everyone gets a T-shirt, unique finisher medal, chip timing and trophy awards to the fastest male and female in the Overall and Masters brackets. A light post - race breakfast and refreshments provided at the finish line.

Packet Pickup/Early Registration: Race day packet pickup and walk-up registration is race morning from 6:30-7:45 AM at the start line at SUN realty AVON. Online service never closes. There is NO pre-race day packet pickup.

All OBX Running Company Series Races are walker, family, child, stroller and friendly chip timed events. Results will be posted on our RACE RESULTS page and emailed to all contestants.
