Storm Preparations
How to Prepare For the Storm
There is no evacuation order in place for our part of the Outer Banks. The only evacuation orders in place are for Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands and the 4X4 area north of Corolla. The beach in the 4X4 area and the main road on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands are vulnerable to ocean overwash, and the possibility of travel being compromised was a reason for the evacuation in those areas.

General Safety
- Storm conditions may cause power and internet outages.
- Avoid using grills or firepits in high winds.
- Please stay off the roads during the storm and do not drive through standing water or ocean overwash, which can cause damage your vehicle.
- If you notice a leak, use towels to mitigate it as best you can. Once the storm has passed, call us and we’ll bring fresh towels and make repairs.
Home Preparation Checklist
- After trash pick-up, roll cans to the house or under the house to prevent trash from blowing around.
- Make sure all windows and exterior doors are locked and secure.
- Latch gates and outdoor shower doors.
- Secure hot tub covers with clips or straps (if provided).
- Stow lightweight items such as beach chairs and pool toys in the outdoor shower.
