No Smoking/Vaping. No Pets. Please note this home shares its lot with a detached guest house that may, at times, be rented out separately. *The driveway to this home is monitored by a camera. Any attempt to dismantle, move, or tamper with the camera device in any way is a violation of our house rules and additional charges may apply.*

Stormwater outfalls were installed in the early 1960s. They allow rainwater to drain away from the lower areas between the highways of U.S. 158 and N.C. 12, which assists with flood prevention. (See photo gallery) The town recommends not swimming within 200 ft of this pipe. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality regularly monitors the outfall sites and collects water samples to ensure there are no contaminants that would threaten human or marine life.

Seasonal Cabana Service: May 4, 2025 - September 19, 2025. This home receives beachside cabana & beach chair set-up services during your stay. Service includes one 10x10 cabana tent and six beach chairs. Set-up hours are 10am to 5pm daily (except check-in day), weather permitting. This service is not available for partial-week stays and is subject to local ordinances. Service provided by Farmdog Surf School.

Great location on the beach. Love the old historic cottage. The porches and driveway were covered with sand so it would have been nice if someone had checked that before we checked in.

Lovely, classic old Nags Head style cottage, yet updated with modern kitchen and baths. Coastal Carolina was easy to deal with on top of that.

My family and I felt accommodated by this home as it is spacious inside and out. We had great views, plenty of space for eating/dining, kids' toys, and simply being able to move around the home with multiple adults and two little ones at our feet. We had everything we needed, and the communication with the office was prompt and made me feel like they would assist us with anything we needed.

We had a wonderful trip! The 7 grandchildren loved it!!! It felt like we were staying in a cozy home! Everyone enjoyed the private beach! One suggestion would be to get another slim style refrigerator.

The planets aligned for our Thanksgiving

We loved Serenity by the Sea. The area had so many attractions for everyone esp. our young families that made Nags Head the perfect destination. The beach house is vintage and recalls my OBX vacations of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. We loved the design, coziness, layout of the Captain's Quarters, nooks, crannies and charm. It would have helped to have a guide book with information about the thermostat, location of beach chairs, info about history of house, amended trash pick up time, directions for a bonfire, etc; we could not get through to office one weekend day, even though it was posted they had office hours. We brought our sand toys but could have used beach chairs. Perfect weather. Use of the fireplace in November would have been nice.... Overall, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating each time we spoke and Everett was wonderful to get us in to the house a bit early on the first day. They all couldn't have been nicer! When we had a slight leak under the kitchen sink, the maintenance person was there immediately to fix. Great service for a great house!

Loved being in the old family cottage! Brought back many wonderful memories. Having the cabana and beach chairs was a luxury and my thanks for that special provision! I had 2 minor complaints—-beaten up sisal rug needs replacement and a hair dryer would have been nice! However, the cottage is wonderful and I hope to rent it again! My nephew, Horace Beasley knows the owner, and I believe I went to UNC with owners mother or perhaps aunt. Small world! Regards, Emily Robinson
