Admission to the park is $10 for ages 16+, but participation in the kite festival is totally FREE!

Take flight where flight first began with Kitty Hawk Kites and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Enjoy a walk on the hallowed grounds where Wilbur and Orville took their historic first flight in 1903, then come join us for some fun flight of your own.

Large 30 – 100 foot kites will be flying high on display. We invite you to come fly kites of your own, take FREE stunt and power kite flying lessons, and bring the kiddos on over to our kite-making station.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial grounds are open daily from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Welcome to the 5th Annual Carova Beach Volunteer Fire & Rescue Donkey Derby & Craft Fair!

Come join us for a day filled with fun, excitement, and competition. Watch as our home-made sponsors' donkeys compete in the Donkey Derby and browse through unique handcrafted items at the Craft Fair. There will be delicious food, music, and plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Plus you'll be supporting the Carova Beach Volunteer Fire & Rescue while having a great time with fans of The Northern Outer Banks. Mark your calendars and don't miss out on this unforgettable event!

How to Get There

This event takes place in Carova, requiring a 4-wheel drive vehicle to drive on the beach. However, Corolla Outback Adventures will be running a courtesy shuttle to/from Corolla to Carova. Seating is limited and will require advance purchase of derby tickets.

If you drive your 4-wheel drive vehicle, there is free parking at the Carova Fire Station for the event. You will need a parking permit if you park on the beach.
