The 7th Annual Grand Tasting takes place in the SoundStage Theatre, surrounded by the beautiful views of Roanoke Sound. Ten of the Outer Banks’ favorite restaurants and best chefs will be serving their specialties, complementing the body and aromas of the wines poured and craft beers featured. Admission includes wine tasting, craft beers, local fare by ten restaurants, silent auction, regional art show and live music. In the breezeway of the Waterside Theatre, the Beer Garden showcases local Outer Banks breweries, some beers ONLY found on the Outer Banks. With beer or wine in hand, stroll behind The Lost Colony’s historic Waterside Theatre Stage and take in the amazing views across the sound to Jockey’s Ridge sand dunes and the Wright Brothers Memorial. Great music will further engage your soul while you bid on fabulous items in the Silent Auction, all proceeds benefit The Lost Colony production.
Flying Pirate Half Marathon

The Outer Banks Flying Pirate Half Marathon is 13.1 miles of scenic beauty through the beautiful landscapes of Coastal North Carolina!
Course Description
The Outer Banks is at Sea Level, and this course is mainly flat. The course starts at the First Flight Middle school and ends at the Wright Brothers Memorial. Within the Nags Head Woods Nature Preserve elevation change includes some rolling terrain and 2 major hills. Outer Banks runners make this preserve’s trail and roads a frequent location got their training.
Begin your journey at the Kill Devil Hills First Flight Middle school behind Run Hill. Here you will head toward the Nature Conservancy, once again this portion of the course is challenging. This lush maritime forest will amaze you with its understated beauty, and you’ll will experience the excitement of trail running along a mulched, dirt road within this unique ecosystem.
As you continue to run you will go by the Wright Brothers Memorial and see where Flight began. Once pass the Memorial you will head towards Bay dr. and run along the Shore line of the Sound for about 9 miles.Here you will greeted by the real Outer Banks. Here you will see the locals who will be out cheering you on!
You will then soar back to the Wright Brothers National Memorial and finish were flight began!
Costume Contest
Participate in your best pirate-themed costume and win! Judges will be Mile Marker Sponsors and Bike Marshals who will be on the lookout for the best dressed in a pirate theme costume.
