15th Annual Scallywag 5k/10K

Join the 15th annual Ocracoke Island 5K/10K through historic village streets, past Ocracoke Harbor, and by the island’s lighthouse. All participants receive a medal and shirt, with awards for top finishers, followed by a post-run celebration at 1718 Brewery.
11th Annual Blackbeard's Half Marathon

Run Ocracoke’s 11th Annual Half Marathon along a flat, fast course from 1718 Brewery to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and back through the village. All runners receive a medal and shirt, with awards for top overall and age group finishers.

Spring marks foaling season for the Corolla wild horses, one of the most unique and popular wildlife experiences on the Outer Banks. From spring through early summer, visitors may have the chance to see newborn wild Banker foals along the northern beaches.
Seeing the wild horses in their natural habitat is a memorable experience and a great opportunity for photography, sightseeing, and learning about the Outer Banks’ unique coastal ecosystem. Many visitors choose to take a guided wild horse tour, while others explore the beaches of Corolla where the horses are often seen roaming.
