Fourth of July Fireworks on the OBX

The Outer Banks beaches are the perfect vantage point for incredible fireworks displays! If watching fireworks over the water has been on your bucket list, it's time to check it off!

There are three fireworks displays over the ocean on July 4 along the beaches of the Outer Banks. These displays are launched off fishing piers in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Avon. Fireworks in Manteo and Corolla explode over the sound, which is just as beautiful.

Here's where you can enjoy Outer Banks Fireworks this 4th of July holiday:

Nags Head - Enjoy the Town of Nags Head Fireworks Spectacular featuring a breathtaking display over the Atlantic launched from the Nags Head Fishing Pier (milepost 11.5) at 9:25pm.

Kill Devil Hills  - Head to Avalon Fishing Pier (milepost 7) for their fireworks extravaganza starting around 9:15pm. The pier itself will be closed to visitors, so find a place on the beach to sit back and enjoy the show.

Parking at or near the piers will be directed by the local police department. Visitors are welcome to bring along chairs, beach towels, and coolers, but are advised to stay off the dunes and to respect private property.

Pro-Tip:
Sit between the two piers, and you can see both displays off to the north and south!

Manteo - The Town of Manteo celebrates Independence Day with a full schedule of events starting at 3:00pm. Activities include a parade of festive bicycles and tricycles decorated for the holiday, a pie baking contest, music and more. Then, after a day of fun in the heart of downtown Manteo, watch fireworks light up the night sky from the docks or Roanoke Island Festival Park at 9:30 pm. Click here for more information about the event.

Pro-Tip: You can see the Nags Head and Manteo fireworks shows from atop Jockey's Ridge off to the east and west!

Corolla - Join an evening celebration from 5 pm - 9 pm in the Historic Corolla Park with free live music and end the night with a fireworks display! Click here for more information about the event.

Avon (Hatteras Island)
- Enjoy fireworks over the ocean at the Avon Fishing Pier at 9 pm.
