Dare County 2025 Property Revaluations

If you are a homeowner in Dare County, you have likely received your updated 2025 Property Revaluation in the mail over the last few weeks. With all of the changes and updates made, we wanted to offer a quick breakdown to lend some insight into what all of the assessed values mean.

Many Dare County homeowners have expressed concerns about the new assessed values on their homes since the last assessments were made. Since the last assessments the county conducted in 2019, home values have appreciated on average about 60%. This does not mean your property tax for 2025 will increase that much!

The county commissioners have stressed that Dare County is a "revenue-neutral" county, meaning the rate at which properties are assessed will be adjusted so homeowners will pay about the same amount in property taxes as they did in 2024.

The commissioners have estimated the property tax rate will drop from $40.05 per $100 value to $26.32 per $100 value. So, some homeowners may see a small increase in their property tax owed and some may see a small decrease in their amount owed.
