Beginning October 5th, the woods turn into a spooky experience to get your heart rate up! Wicked Woods has become a favorite attraction during the Halloween Season and is only open for 7-nights of scares. Ticket purchasing at the door, $20/person, cash only.
  • Outer Banks Ghost Tours: Explore the region’s haunted history on a guided ghost tour, visiting historic sites and hearing chilling tales:
    • 1. OBX Ghost Tours – located in Manteo, OBX Ghost Tours guides visitors through Downtown Manteo, sharing stories on how the Outer Banks became known as the most haunted beach in America. This family-friendly and educational event is perfect to get you in the Halloween spirit.

Family-Friendly Fun

  • Oregon Inlet Ships & Sweets: Trick or Treating at the docks! This is a family-friendly event on Saturday, October 27th, 2024 (beginning at 5pm) that takes place at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Join in on a night full of candy, games, music and refreshments.
  • 11th Annual OBX Halloween Parade of Costumes: Bring your best Halloween costumes and take part in the 11th Annual Halloween Parade of Costumes, scheduled to take place on October 27, 2024. Open to all ages, visitors can take a walk through Aviation Park in Kill Devil Hills and see if you have a winning costume! This is a free event, so don’t miss out on the spooky fun!
  • Pumpkin Patch Saturdays at Island Farm : Spend the day on the farm, picking out the perfect pumpkins to help in celebrating the fall season! Located in Manteo, Island Farm is a living history site, showcasing the lives of Outer Bankers in the 1850s. On Saturdays in October, visitors can see the farm in action as well as enjoy historic games, candle making and of course pumpkins! Admission for ages 4+: $10, Children 3 and under are free!

Coastal Charm and Spooky Spectacles

  • Halloween Fun Run: What better way to celebrate than to compete in a Halloween-themed fun run? The Dare To Scare 5K and Sweet Treat Fun Run takes place on October 26th, 2024 and is a family-friendly event that takes place in Manteo. Costumes are encouraged, so be sure to show up in your Halloween-best and take part in this fun event!
  • Halloween-Themed Decorations: Admire the festive Halloween decorations that are set up on the homes and businesses throughout the Outer Banks.
