It was the perfect cottage for our family of five (plus our Golden Retriever).The cottage was cozy, spotless, thoughtfully appointed, and had everything we needed for a relaxing week at the beach. One of our favorite parts was the easy beach access, which made trips back and forth with three kids and our dog so simple. We also loved being just minutes from our favorite Outer Banks restaurant, Tortuga's Lie. We usually rent a larger home with a pool, so we were a little nervous we'd miss that amenity—but honestly, we didn't miss it one bit! We had perfect beach weather all week, and the cottage was within walking distance of mini golf, great restaurants, and ice cream, making it an ideal location for our family.As an added bonus, it had the best view of the Fourth of July fireworks show we've ever had in all our years coming to the Outer Banks. It made an already special tradition even more memorable.We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Direct access to the beach, walking distance to Tortuga's Lie and Lucky 12, and usually between 5-15 minutes to almost every point of interest on our trip. Having our dog with us was a huge plus, and staying in a vintage OBX cottage provided some character that we appreciated. The location is PERFECT! Excellent proximity to parks, restaurants, and shopping. The kids loved having their own private path to the beach. The hammock was also a HUGE hit! We appreciate that this was a dog-friendly rental. We were able to bring our doodle pup along for her first beach trip. We are NC natives and live close enough for a day trip but having the whole week to enjoy the area without rushing home was AMAZING! There are so many historic sites and nature trails nearby. The house has everything you need for a wonderful stay. My favorite feature was the easy beach access - perfect for quickly heading back to use the restroom or grab a quick bite to eat. The wraparound deck is lovely, with plenty of seating and even a hammock to relax in. During our stay, the couch was replaced (with our permission), but it was done while we were out and did not disrupt our visit at all. The owner is very nice. The living space worked well for us. Very comfortable. We didn’t use the TV. The full kitchen was a great bonus, it had all the essentials, including a Keurig, and we enjoyed making breakfast in. There’s also a fantastic restaurant directly across the street that we walked to. The beds were comfortable, the bedrooms had ceiling fans ( as does the living room and kitchen ) and the A/C worked wonderfully. There is one full bathroom with a small shower ( but it was totally sufficient ) , plus one half bath and an outdoor shower, which was great after the beach. The washer and dryer were also very convenient.
